Tottenham and Arsenal in mix to bring player back to PL–€100m+ for London move

Scott McTominay has acquired a legend-like status in Naples since his arrival from Manchester United. As Napoli are attempting to hand him a new contract, a threat is apparently emerging from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

After a slow start to the season, the Scotsman has picked up form. He now has nine goals across all competitions, racking up four assists too.

McTominay also played deeper in midfield due to an injury crisis. That has showcased his value to Antonio Conte’s side, even when he isn’t scoring as much.

AreaNapoli report that clubs in England are keeping an eye on his situation. Arsenal and Tottenham, specifically, are presented as being interested.

Any move will be difficult. This is because Napoli have scheduled talks over a renewal and discussions will take place at the end of the season.

Napoli renewal likely on the way

Scott McTominay

Rome, Italy – January 4, 2026: Scott Mctominay of Napoli seen in action during the Serie A Enilive 2025-2026 football match between S.S. Lazio vs S.S.C. Napoli at Olympic Stadium.

Already in the last few months, the midfielder has rejected approaches from Saudi Arabia. He was offered a wage of €15m per season, after tax, with €3m offered in bonuses.

That is why it will be tricky to sway the Scotland international. Even for Napoli, it will take a lot of convincing to sell McTominay.

Club CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis will only accept offers above €100m to sell the player. That is the price tag Arsenal and Tottenham will have to meet, with the player’s wage demands also expected to be high.

Napoli want to tie McTominay down to a contract until 2031, and linking Premier League clubs is probably part of the Italian show. It can then be shouted that the Serie A club beat tough competition to convince their hero to stay.

Manchester United are endlessly linked, and even Everton were thrown in during November.
