Arsenal are being linked with a young Brazilian talent who already has plenty of competition.

Arsenal could be on course to beat Chelsea at their own game as they look to snatch up a Brazilian talent. The Gunners had a quiet winter transfer window, opting not to sign any new players atfer a summer window that saw them spend more than £200million to add quality and depth.

Arsenal did lose Mikel Merino to an injury for the rest of the season, leaving a gap in their midfield, but they do have the depth to cover it, and despite seemingly toying with the idea of bringing back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free transfer, Arteta restisted the urge to replace his reliable Spaniard.

After all, the depth Arsenal spent so much to amass was to cope with injuries, so it should come as no surprise that the winter window was a quiet one, with the North London club also having to tread carefully with Financial Fair Play.

The club’s recruitment chiefs can now start planning for the summer, and what they hope will be a Premier League title defence. But the club will also have an eye on the future as they look to get away from paying inflated fees for polished talents, as they have done over recent years.

Having seen Chelsea play that game over the last 18 months, snatching up some of the best South American talent, Arsenal are now set to do the same, according to reports. CaughtOffside say the Gunners are looking to sign Corinthians starlet Breno Biden who, at 20 years of age, already has more than 100 senior outings.

A source reportedly told the outlet that Arsenal are ‘firmly in the mix’ and that they have done some early work ahead of potentially putting together a deal. Though, with a 100million euro release clause, the Brazilian club are not in a position where they will be forced to sell.

Having said that, they are expected to ask for at least 30million euros this summer, which works out as around £26.1million. Barcelona have also been linked with a move. The out-and-out midfielder is under contract until 2029 and so far has two goals in seven appearances in the still young Brazilian season.
