Doncic took an untimely exit and entered the locker room with 3:03 left in the second quarter. He was seen grabbing his left hamstring and was visibly upset about the injury as he kicked the scorer's table.
The superstar didn't rejoin the team in the second half, as the Lakers subsequently announced he would not return to the game due to left leg soreness.
“He got some soreness in his hamstring. He didn’t feel like it was good enough to go back in, neither did the medical [staff]. So we held him out," the Lakers coach said.
"He'll get some imaging. Too early to say if any injury, but just had a sore hamstring.”
Doncic dropped 10 points, four boards and two assists in 16 minutes before leaving.
The Lakers can only hope that Doncic evaded a serious injury. Hamstring issues, especially strain, tend to require a significant amount of time for full recovery.
Should Doncic miss an extended time, the Lakers can only rely on Austin Reaves and LeBron James to lead the charge.
