Wolves welcome Chelsea to Molineux in the Premier League this weekend

After consecutive 2-0 losses to Manchester City and Bournemouth, Wolves will look to try and strike an upset when they play host to Champions League hopefuls Chelsea in the first match of the post Jorgen Strand Larsen era.

The Old Gold allowed the Norwegian to depart for £43m with an extra £5m in add-ons, making it one of the biggest deals of the entire window.

Strand Larsen managed just one league goal in his final six months at Molineux, and departed for almost double the £25m Wolves paid to make his loan permanent in the summer, marking good business for Rob Edwards side on paper.

They’ll hope now to see more from summer addition Tolu Arokodare, who admitted in midweek that he hopes to be more clinical. While there’s also a chance that Championship goal specialist Adam Armstrong could lead the line as he looks to improve on his disappointing numbers at this level with Southampton and Newcastle.

Ahead of kick-off, we take a look at how Wolves are likely to line up against the Blues.

Wolves predicted line-up vs Chelsea: goalkeeper and defence

RB: Jackson Tchatchoua: The Cameroon international steps in to replace Rodrigo Gomes in the wing-back role. He could face a challenging test against former Wolves fan favourite Pedro Neto.

CB: Yerson Mosquera: The Colombian keeps his place in the backline as Wolves target their third clean sheet of the campaign.

CB: Santiago Bueno: The 27-year-old keeps his place in a familiar looking centre-back trio. He’s popped up with two goals in 15 matches this season.

CB: Ladislav Krejčí: The versatile 26-year-old has been one of the few players to emerge with credit this season. He’s likely to keep his place in the XI.

LWB: David Moller Wolfe: The Norwegian is yet to hit top form for the Old Gold but did manage to produce two assists when he faced Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. That could give him the edge over Hugo Bueno this time around.

Wolves predicted line-up vs Chelsea: midfield and attack

CM: Angel Gomes: The former Manchester United man could be handed a first start since joining from Marseille. He comes in to replace impressive teenager Matheus Mane.

CM: João Gomes: The energetic Brazilian midfielder is likely to start at the heart of midfield as he looks to nullify the threat of stars like Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandes.

CM: Andre: The 24-year-old is likely to be paired with his countrymen in the middle of the park.

ST: Hwang Hee-chan: The South Korean international is likely to keep his place in attack as he looks to unsettle Chelsea’s defence.

ST: Adam Armstrong:Mid-season signing Armstrong could make his debut against Chelsea. He’s enjoyed a strong season at Championship level for Southampton so far and will hope to prove he can trouble top-flight defences.
