Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are in an excellent position to take Liverpool’s crown as Premier League champions this season.
The Reds can do the Gunners a big favour on Sunday by beating Manchester City at Anfield. A corresponding Arsenal win would see them sitting nine points clear with 13 games to play.
Having spent six trophy-less years honing his plan at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta‘s approach finally looks like it might pay off.

The Spaniard has slowly built his long-term vision at the club and it does not appear to be slowing down any time soon.
As part of that plan, Arteta is reportedly looking to get as many historical Arsenal players involved at the club as possible. And according to the Daily Mail, his attention has turned to creating a role for former Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain slated for Arsenal return
Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled to reignite his career since leaving Liverpool on a free transfer in 2023.
The 32-year-old spent two years with Besiktas in Turkey, but having been released last summer he has found himself without a club for the first time in his career.

That looks set to change as he prepares for a move to Celtic, but before that, the Mail report that Liverpool’s former No. 15 has been doing his coaching badges while training with Arsenal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arteta were teammates with the Gunners more than 10 years ago, and with the pair reportedly enjoying a ‘close bond,’ a reunion is seemingly being planned down the line.
Arteta is claimed to be a ‘big admirer’ of the England international and is reportedly keen to get him involved at the club once he qualifies as a coach.

Oxlade-Chamberlain closing in on Celtic move
It is strange that this story should emerge now as Oxlade-Chamberlain closes in on finally securing himself new employment.
As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Southampton academy graduate is due to complete his move to Celtic on Friday.
“Celtic are closing in on Axel [Alex] Oxlade Chamberlain on free transfer, all set to be completed on Friday,” Romano posted on X on Thursday night. “Six months contract agreed with former Liverpool player.”
Whether Oxlade-Chamberlain elongates his stay in Glasgow will depend on whether he can prove himself again after six months without a club. If he cannot do that, perhaps we will see him take up Arteta’s offer and re-join Arsenal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was a fan favourite during his six years at Liverpool, his bubbly personality and fighting playing style winning over supporters almost immediately. But his affiliation with Arsenal is seemingly stronger, and it looks like it could blossom once again.
