Arne Slot’s position at Liverpool remains precarious despite a recent uptick in both performances and results.
The Dutchman had looked on the verge of being sacked earlier in the season after a dismal run of defeats put his team out of the Premier League title picture.
Following the exit of Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid in January, rumours ramped up that Slot could be replaced by the former Liverpool midfielder.

However, the 47-year-old has since steadied the ship a little, and it is clear that Slot retains the backing of the Liverpool owners, for now at least.
That has not stopped fans from voicing their concern over his leadership, though, with worries over Liverpool’s current predicament now bizarrely spilling over into the Bulgarian parliament.
Toshko Yordanov wants Xabi Alonso at Liverpool
If Liverpool do make a change in head coach this year, Alonso would be the overwhelming favourite to take over.
That is certainly the hope of Bulgarian Member of Parliament Toshko Yordanov, who amazingly took his chance to publicly express dismay at the state of his club during an address to the National Assembly.

“I suggest we discuss the shaky shape of Liverpool because I like them,” Yordanov said in a video posted by Bulgarian political channel Otvetnareakciq on TikTok.
“Something is not good and I hope Xabi Alonso becomes the coach from next season to be fine again.”
FSG have so far stood firm in their support of the current head coach, but their stance is quickly escalating into an international political matter!

Why was Arne Slot being discussed in Bulgarian parliament?
From the short clip posted, it is not possible to get some more context surrounding Yordanov’s decision to bring Slot and Liverpool into the conversation.
The Reds obviously have supporters worldwide, including some very famous political figures such as current director of the FBI Kash Patel.
Slot’s Liverpool have been so bad at times this season that he may have been upsetting some highly influential people.
Despite the constant speculation over his future, though, the former Feyenoord boss is still being backed by the people who truly matter in this scenario: FSG.
It may concern them that supporter feeling is continuing to turn across the world, but for now they appear steadfast in their support of Slot.
