EXCLUSIVE: Alan Smith Anticipates Arsenal "Revenge" As He Predicts The Result vs Sunderland

Arsenal are preparing for a game against Sunderland this weekend, as they aim to keep their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently six points clear of Man City and Aston Villa in the Premier League, and could really boost their chances of winning the league title with a win against Sunderland this weekend.

However, it won’t be an easy game, as Sunderland come off a dominant 3-0 win against Burnley last weekend, and they also managed to hold the Gunners to a draw when the two teams met in November at the Stadium of Light.

But, Arsenal are in good form too, as they beat Chelsea 4-2 on aggregate in the Carabao Cup semi-final, to get their first shot at silverware since 2021, when they won the FA Cup in Arteta’s first season in charge.

Ahead of the game, GoonerNews spoke exclusively to former Arsenal forward Alan Smith via BestBettingSites.co.uk, and we asked him to predict the result ahead of the Sunderland game. We asked Smith if a potential upset could be on the cards.

He responded: “I can’t see an upset, to be honest with you. Brilliant result against Burnley on Monday night for Sunderland. But Arsenal getting to Wembley last night, they’ll make a few changes as well, I would imagine.

“So, I can’t see Sunderland causing a shock. A bit of revenge in the air as well after they got a point off the Gunners up there.”

Last time the Gunners played Regis Le Bris’ side, it was a disappointing result for Arteta, as the Gunners failed to win the game, and ended up dropping points at the Stadium of Light.

The game ended in a 2-2 score line, as Dan Ballard scored first for Sunderland, before Arsenal netted two goals via Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard. However, the Black Cats managed to secure a point as they scored via Brian Brobbey in the 94th minute.
