Liverpool Injury News & Expected Return Dates: Updates On Joe Gomez, Jeremie Frimpong & 3 More

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is potentially set to be available to play in the Reds’ next game against Manchester City.

The Reds come off a 4-1 win against Newcastle last weekend, in what was a dominant display by Arne Slot‘s side. They are currently sat sixth in the Premier League table, two points off Manchester United, who are in fourth.

This weekend, it doesn’t get any easier, as there is a huge clash against Man City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, which could really boost Liverpool’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Unfortunately, the game against Man City is set to come too soon for Frimpong, who is dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered in January.

Seeing as Slot has been forced to play players out of position at right-back, Frimpong can’t return any sooner, but it looks as though the Reds will have to wait a while.

Slot said before the Newcastle game last weekend: “He is out for a few weeks. But [it’s] not as bad as we thought he would be out. It’s something positive from something not so positive.”

Alexander Isak

Isak remains out with his long-term calf injury that he suffered before Christmas. It has been a disastrous first season at Anfield for the Swedish striker, but he is slowly nearing a return.

It look as though he will come back into the side in March, but based on Slot’s latest update, he’s not back in training yet, even in a limited capacity.

The Liverpool boss said last week: “He’s not even on the pitch yet. He’s just out of his walker, so that tells you that we’re not expecting him on the pitch today or tomorrow in terms of his recovery work. That’s going to take a while before he’s back, as we knew.”

Summer signings Leoni is yet to make his first appearance in the Premier League for Liverpool as he suffered an ACL injury just weeks after joining in the summer.

Slot hasn’t provided much of an update on Leoni, as it is understood that he won’t appear for Liverpool this season, he will be working hard to make a return for the start of next year’s Premier League campaign.

Bradley underwent knee surgery in January, and is set to begin a long period of rehabilitation for his ACL injury.

Arne Slot provided an update on him earlier in January, and it indicates that he may not be ready for the start of next season. He said: “He will undergo [knee] surgery in the coming days and then begin a period of rehabilitation. No timeframe is being placed on his return to playing at this stage of the process.”
