Klutch Sports founder Rich Paul was not consulted as the deal was being put together, despite his close relationship with the star big man, The Athletic's Joe Vardon reports.
This is now the second time in a short span that Paul was kept out of negotiations involving Davis. The same thing happened last year, when Davis was moved in the shocking trade that sent him to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Doncic.
In contrast, Paul was consulted on other major moves, including the recent trade that sent Darius Garland to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Davis remains under contract for next season at roughly $58 million and also holds a player option for the 2027-28 season. His future could now be shaped by how committed the Wizards are to building around him and Trae Young.
On the court, Davis has continued to deliver elite production. He is averaging 20.1 points and 11.1 rebounds in 20 games this season and has played 29 games overall since arriving in Dallas.
Young, meanwhile, has been limited to 10 games due to injuries but has still posted strong numbers, averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game.
