Cucurella finally breaks silence on Chelsea vs West Ham controversy, Adama Traore responds

Marc Cucurella and Adama Traore were involved in a heated confrontation during the Chelsea vs West Ham United clash last weekend.

Chelsea turned things around to beat West Ham 3-2 in the end, having trailed 2-0 at half-time.

Cucurella actually scored Chelsea’s equaliser against the Hammers and was then involved in a scuffle with Adama Traore in stoppage time, just after Enzo Fernandez scored what turned out to be the winner for the Blues.

The West Ham ace hurled the Chelsea defender to the ground as tempers boiled over at Stamford Bridge.

Traore spoke out after West Ham’s defeat to Chelsea, although he didn’t mention his clash with Cucurella.

Now both players have addressed the situation when speaking on a radio station in their homeland.

Cucurella and Adama both came through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, so they know each other very well indeed.

“There was a moment when I stood up and felt myself very close to him, and I thought, well, I’ll stick my head in here and see if I can stir things up,“ Cucurella admitted.

“He grabbed me, threw me where he could, and a big scuffle broke out .”

Fair play to the Chelsea ace for admitting that he was purposely trying to provoke a reaction from the Hammers forward.

It certainly worked, didn’t it!

While Adama undoubtedly lost his cool on the pitch, he insisted that it was just heat of the moment stuff.

“He’s a really good guy. It all stays on the field, it was just the heat of the moment,“ Adama said.

“I really didn’t mean to do it, it wasn’t my intention. I just wanted to talk to the linesman.”

Cucurella then responded to Traore’s comments.

“No, these things happen,“ the Chelsea left-back suggested.

“I don’t have a problem with it, although if I ran into him on the street I’d hesitate to say hello after this.

“Now I’m calm because there’s a screen between us. It all stays there.”

All’s well that ends well, it seems. Cucurella and Adama are clearly very respectful of one another off the pitch, despite their clear rivalry on the field of play.
