Main reason Ja Morant was not traded revealed

Teams weren't willing to take Ja Morant unless the Grizzlies added draft compensation, as his trade value was being described as "negative."

Despite trade rumors swirling around Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, he ultimately stays with the team, at least until the end of the season.

Morant was linked to multiple teams until the final moments of the trade deadline, but nobody was willing to pay the price for him.

According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst of ESPN, teams weren't willing to take on Ja Morant unless the Grizzlies added draft compensation, which was the main reason he wasn't traded. Windhorst described Morant's current trade value as "terrible."

"When I say he has no value, I don't even think that's accurate. I think he has what they call in the league negative value," Windhorst stated on ESPN's Get Up show. "Meaning teams weren't willing to take Ja Morant unless the Grizzlies also added draft compensation."

Morant has been a key player for Memphis this season, averaging 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game.

Injuries have limited him to just 20 games, making his impact harder to sustain. Despite this, the Grizzlies sit 11th in the Western Conference with a 20-29 record.
