Enzo Fernandez Praises Liam Rosenior’s Impact After Chelsea’s Impressive Start

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been full of praise for head coach Liam Rosenior. He said that Rosenior is a great tactician and has given the whole team confidence, even though he only joined the team a month ago.

The Argentine midfielder has been particularly strong since the new manager took over, performing even better in a more advanced role. Fernandez has scored eight goals and set up two others in the Premier League this season. His attacking contributions have increased significantly since Rosenior took over.

Fernandez discussed his relationship with the new head coach and the greater freedom he has to make tactical decisions in the final third of the field. The World Cup winner said:

“He’s a great coach. He only arrived a month ago but he’s showing all his potential… I’ve enjoyed being able to add goals and assists to my game. The coach gives me freedom. He gives me freedom to express myself in the last few metres of the pitch and I’ve been feeling good.

“We have a game plan for each game and it’s what Liam asks for. He gives us freedom in the final third and I try to get there, into the box, so my team-mates have another option.

The 25-year-old midfielder admitted that his job is physically demanding, but he said he is ready to make those important runs into dangerous areas.

Fernandez also noted that the whole team has improved under Rosenior’s leadership, saying everyone has experienced significant growth, both as a group and as individuals.

Liam Rosenior has impressed since joining Chelsea as head coach

The 41-year-old Englishman signed with the Blues on January 6, 2026, replacing Enzo Maresca, and his contract runs through the summer of 2032.

Rosenior has had a great start to his time at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have won six of his first eight games in charge, with the only losses coming in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal. The ex-Strasbourg coach has won all three of his Premier League games. He beat Brentford 2-0, Crystal Palace 3-1, and West Ham 3-2 with a last-minute goal to complete a dramatic comeback.

This perfect record in the league has earned him a nomination for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for January, which is his first month at the club.
