Bernardo Silva faces a late fitness test ahead of the trip to Merseyside. John Stones, meanwhile, has returned to first-team training but will not feature on Sunday.
The Blues have a dire record at Anfield, and manager Pep Guardiola has called on his players to step up to the occasion as he seeks only his second win there as City boss.
“I have an idea on the line-up and try to see how they played lately, what we have to do, adjust some things, but it’s not just Anfield, all big stages and big games always need big personalities,” he said at Friday's press conference.
“I’ve said many times it’s not about the skills of the players in the first division and Premier League and the big leagues.
“In the top clubs, the skills are there. Not one player is not good enough to play in the big clubs, it’s how you behave, not play good or bad, how you are as a player.
“Do it in big stadiums at home and in the latter stages of the competitions in European competition that define the good players, that much you have, which define the good teams.”
City lost their last away game at Anfield 2-0, with Codi Gakpo and Mo Salah netting for the home side. Overall City have won 53 of the 200 games played against Liverpool, with 52 draws and 95 defeats.
Predicted line-up: Donnarumma, Nunes, Dias, Guehi, O'Reilly, Rodri, Gonzalez, Rjeinders, Cherki, Semenyo, Haaland
Score prediction: Liverpool 2 City 1
