Liverpool had a very quiet January transfer window, not adding a single senior player to their squad for the remainder of the campaign.
A deal for Jeremy Jacquet has been agreed with Rennes, but the centre-back is spending the remainder of the season in France.
As a result, Liverpool fans will have to watch Jacquet from afar, with the 20-year-old most recently starting a 3-0 loss to Marseille in the French Cup.

Jamie Redknapp loves the new signing, though he seemingly wasn’t the Reds’ primary centre-back target going into 2025/26.
Instead, Liverpool made an offer for Marc Guehi in the summer, which was knocked back by Crystal Palace.

Guehi was linked again as we headed towards the January transfer window, while Arsenal were also mooted as a potential destination for the England international.
There was some expectation he could remain at Selhurst Park this term before moving on a free from July 1.

However, Guehi instead joined Manchester City in a reported £20m deal as Liverpool watched on.
Now, speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast this week, former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has shared his verdict on the defender.
He said: “Marc Guehi is different class. I mean, he’s the best of the best.”

Why didn’t Liverpool sign Marc Guehi
Guehi will likely feature at Anfield this weekend when Liverpool face Manchester City on Sunday.
The Englishman has been a regular feature for Pep since moving to the Etihad Stadium, while the Reds may have just two fit centre-backs for the game unless Joe Gomez has recovered in time.
In turn, fans are probably wondering why Liverpool didn’t sign Guehi, instead allowing a direct rival to swoop in for the player.
Well, it was revealed after the fact that the Reds did not view the costs involved in signing the player as a smart market opportunity.
Guehi is thought to be earning £300,000-a-week in Manchester, which works out at around £85.8m over a five-and-a-half-year contract.
