The January transfer window may be over, but that doesn’t mean we cannot speculate about the futures of Chelsea players.
It was a very quiet January transfer window for Chelsea in terms of incomings, with Mamadou Sarr’s return one of the only things to shout about.
Chelsea now have Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Sarr, Wesley Fofana, Josh Acheampong, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobal who can all play at centre-back.
Chelsea’s injury list is growing…
How concerned are you by the influx of injuries under Liam Rosenior?
However, not all of his players will get game time, so there are some decisions to be made. Although, the injuries to Colwill and Adarabioyo make things slightly different.
Regardless, one of Liam Rosenior‘s recent comments suggest that things are about to get harder for one player already at the club.
Liam Rosenior delighted with Mamadou Sarr’s return
Sarr was on loan at sister club Strasbourg, where he impressed under Rosenior.
He even made a name for himself at the African Cup of Nations recently, coming on for an injured Kalidou Koulibaly in the semi-finals and then delivering a cracking display in the final.
And despite not playing yet for Chelsea, it’s clear that Rosenior will turn to the defender.
“I’m happy Mamadou Sarr has come back. I wanted him at Chelsea”.
Is Mamadou Sarr ready for his Premier League debut?
Look away Benoit Badiashile
According to the Daily Briefing, Badiashile is very likely out of the Chelsea project now.
There has been some interest from AC Milan, albeit nothing that concrete yet, but we can expect to see them and others step up their efforts in the months ahead.
While I wouldn’t say Chelsea are forcing Badiashile out, they are very much open to offers and would prefer a permanent sale to a loan. His asking price will be in the region of €35m (£30m).
This comes straight after Mamadou Sarr’s recall, plus Badiashile was an unused substitute against Arsenal with Josh Acheampong coming on instead.
