It is Friday, February 6, 2026, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is still a member of the Milwaukee Bucks organization. This came as a shock and disappointment to fans of other NBA franchises who had been convinced by Shams Charania and other national media members that the ten-time All-Star and two-time MVP was not happy and wanted to be traded out of Milwaukee.
For months, nay, years, Bucks fans have had to put up with constant trade speculation and rumors involving Giannis, the greatest player in the history of their franchise. It certainly has seemed like Charania and many others have an agenda they are trying to push, one that would result in Giannis playing somewhere other than Milwaukee.
Indeed, Shams has often cited his sources as being those in Giannis’ “camp,” yet every prediction he has made about Giannis getting traded has ended up being wrong.

It was with great delight that Bucks fans took to social media after the NBA trade deadline was over to drag and pull out receipts on Charania and ESPN as a whole.
And they were not the only ones. Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Giannis’ older brother and Bucks teammate, had some things to say as well:

Among the things Thansis said on the podcast were:
“What happened to integirty?” when talking about Charania and his constant rumors
“What happened to ‘Let me ask Giannis what is really happening'” when discussing the same topic
“If I hear one more time, ‘His camp said…’ We are his camp!”
“We literally don’t talk to nobody.”
As one can see, the people who are, in reality, close enough to Giannis to know what he is thinking and what he wants are not talking to media personnel like Charania or Brian Windhorst.
It is easy to get caught up in the Giannis trade rumors because it is all the national media talks about. They rarely, if ever, site local reporters who interview Giannis himself and to whom he expresses his desire to stay in Milwaukee.
Unfortunately, that does not fit ESPN’s narrative.
And so, as great as this victory is for Bucks fans (that is, Giannis still in Milwaukee), they better be prepared for many more months of speculation because it is clear no one outside of their fandom wants the Greek Freak in Milwaukee.
