According to NBA numerologist Etienne Catalan, Alvarado selected No. 5 with the Knicks, prompting fans on social media to quickly coin a new moniker for him.
Building on his popular "Grand Theft Alvarado" nickname, he's now being called "GTA 5," cleverly referencing both his nickname and his jersey number.
The 27-year-old guard has not yet debuted with the Knicks, and it remains unclear when he will make his first appearance for his new team.
This season, Alvarado has been averaging 7.9 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds with the Pelicans. He is earning $4.5 million this year and holds a player option for the same amount in the 2026-27 season.
