247Sports College Basketball Show: ’27 rankings, freshmen chasing history, draft tanking

The 247Sports College Basketball Show returned to the CBS Sports Network on Friday and is now available in its entirety on the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel.

This week's show dove into a variety of subjects ranging from recruiting to college basketball to the NBA Draft, and by extension, what we saw during the NBA trade deadline.

We began with a look at the recently updated 2027 national recruiting rankings including a deeper dive on the top three prospects Marcus Spears Jr., CJ Rosser, and Beckham Black. We also discuss the recent ascent of King Gibson as well as a couple of players that could be on the verge of a spring breakout, RJ Moore and J'Lon Lyons.

The next segment of the show looked at another example of this freshmen class being a historically good one. Keaton Wagler, AJ Dybantsa, Darius Acuff, and Cameron Boozer are vying for Player of the Year honors in their respective conferences. If that comes to fruition, it would be the first time in college basketball history that the top honors in the Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, and ACC went to freshmen. We broke down how likely that is and who else could be in contention.

Next, we previewed some of the biggest match-ups of the weekend, analyzing the games between the lines. Connecticut and St. John's get things going on Friday night while Saturday night's slate begins with Duke against North Carolina at 6:30pm ET, Illinois and Michigan State at 8, Tennessee at Kentucky at 8:30, and Houston at BYU at 10:30.

Finally, we looked at how college basketball star freshmen class is impacting the NBA. Specifically, we broke down some of the transactions that were made in the association before this week's trade deadline. We talked about the Jazz, Wizards, Pacers, Bucks, Kings, Nets, and others in the rush to tank.
