Warriors linked to reunion with two-time NBA champion forward on buyout market

The Golden State Warriors will have their fair share of ideal targets on the buyout market following an eventful trade season (the franchise acquired Kristaps Porzingis in a blockbuster deal).

According to Sports Illustrated’s Joey Akeley, a reunion with a two-time NBA champion forward could be a possibility for the Dubs.

“(Chris) Boucher had a serviceable 2024-25 season for the (Toronto) Raptors, averaging 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 36.3% from three,” Akeley wrote Friday. “He barely played for the (Boston) Celtics this season.”

Boucher started the 2025-26 campaign with the Celtics but was traded to the Utah Jazz on Thursday. Unsurprisingly, the Jazz waived the Oregon product shortly after the deal, making him a prime buyout candidate for several franchises.

As Akeley noted, Boucher wasn’t a significant factor for the Celtics this season. The 33-year-old veteran averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in nine games with Boston this year, shooting 32.0% from the field and 13.3% from three.

That said, Boucher, who won one championship with Golden State in 2017-18 and one with the Raptors the following season, has previously exhibited signs of being a valuable two-way contributor.

The Alma, Quebec native’s final four seasons with the Raptors are proof of that, as he emerged as a versatile defender who could be effective in different spots on the offensive end.

Boucher is an asset who could soon attract the Warriors' attention.
