Chelsea are making progress on a potential deal for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez according to reports in Argentina.
The Blues were linked with Alvarez before he swapped Manchester City for the Spanish capital, and the World Cup Winner has scored 40 goals in 88 appearances for the La Liga outfit.
The 26-year-old has also registered 13 assists in that time, and is under contract with Atletico until 2030, meaning any potential transfer would be very expensive.
Chelsea advancing on possible Julian Alvarez deal
The Blues have Emmanuel Emegha arriving from Strasbourg in the summer, whilst they signed both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro last summer.
However, despite Geovany Quenda also arriving in the summer, the Blues are reportedly in the market for another attacker.

There have again been links with Alvarez, but there doesn’t appear to be much substance to them, although a journalist for ESPN Argentina has claimed the Blues are advancing on a possible deal.
“Chelsea are quietly advancing for Julián Álvarez,” he told ESPN Argentina.
“They tell me there are conversations. Moreover, they told me that part of the agency or the agents who handle his transfer for Julián were in London this week watching the Chelsea-Arsenal match.”
Alvarez has struggled this season and has scored 11 goals in 31 appearances, with just seven goals in 22 La Liga appearances.
