Liam Rosenior thinks Chelsea have 20-year-old who can become‘world-class’

Liam Rosenior will now be well aware of the quality of players he has at his disposal at Chelsea after taking charge of eight games.

The Blues have won six of those, only losing the two legs of the EFL Cup semi-final against Arsenal where Rosenior’s tactics came into question.

The Premier League form has been perfect so far though, and they will be looking to do the same again when they take on Wolves on Saturday.

What changes would you make to our side to face Wolves?

The Chelsea Chronicle are predicting the Blues will make a number of changes to their starting XI, and one player who might fancy his chances of being involved is Mamadou Sarr.

Liam Rosenior thinks Chelsea man can become ‘world-class’

The 20-year-old rejoined the Chelsea squad during the January transfer window, after the Blues were unable to get the signing of Jeremy Jacquet over the line.

Sarr has been seen in first team training with the Blues, and Rosenior couldn’t hide his excitement when it came to speaking about his potential.

He told the Chelsea website: “Everyone knows what I think about Mamadou, I think he’s got the potential to be a world-class centre-back.

“I’m delighted he’s here and thank the sporting directors and ownership for supporting what I thought was the right decision for us and for him in his career.

“I see a growth in Mamadou, even his performance in the AFCON final. I see a growth in his physicality, I see a growth in his tactical understanding. Also, it was an area of the pitch I felt we could strengthen.

“He will get his opportunity, but he knows he needs to fight for it because we have got many outstanding centre-backs in our group.”

Rosenior a key reason why Sarr is at Stamford Bridge

After reportedly seeking assurances ahead of the January transfer window, the Blues didn’t end up bringing Rosenior a new permanent addition to the squad.

Is Mamadou Sarr ready for his Premier League debut?

However, the return of the former Strasbourg man has clearly been done with the manager in mind.

Rosenior asked personally for Sarr to join his squad, clearly seeing him as an option that can make an impact during this season.

It remains to be seen if he makes the matchday squad, but a game against the side bottom of the Premier League looks the perfect launching pad.
