Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a summer move to sign FC Porto star Samu Aghehowa ahead of Chelsea, according to TEAMtalk.
Spurs have had a poor season which has been rocked by serious injuries to a number of key attackers including James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Dominic Solanke, which has seen them sink to 14th in the Premier League table.
But Thomas Frank has also failed to get the best out of players like Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel, and it's now expected that the north London club will dive into the market this summer to bolster their options.
Tottenham Want to Sign Aghehowa
Samu Aghehowa celebrating after scoring for Porto
Aghehowa, who has been described as 'one of Europe's most prolific strikers', has been been on fire for FC Porto this season, netting 20 times in 31 appearances for the Portuguese giants. He's scored a total of 47 goals in 76 appearances for the club, since his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.
That move came about after a deal with Chelsea had initially been agreed, only for the move to collapse at the final hurdle due to issues over personal terms.
But two years later, his form has convinced a number of top clubs across Europe to pay serious attention to his situation, including Chelsea, and Tottenham now face stiff competition if they want to seal a ddeal for a long-time target.
The Spain international has a €100m release clause in his contract with Porto, and the current Primera Liga leaders are likely to hold out for the entire clause to be paid out if they are approached for the 21-year-old striker in the summer.
Tottenham are reportedly open to smashing their transfer record to bring him in, but it remains to be seen if they will be able to pip the competition to his signature considering their performances on the pitch this season.
Aghehowa a Perfect Premier League Striker

While Solanke has started to find some form following his long-term injury, the futures of Richarlison and Kolo Muani look unlikely to be in north London after this season, which means reinforcements are necessary.
Able to play up front on his own and link with his teammates, Aghehowa also has the ability to score goals, create, and win games on his own. He can hold the ball up, run in behind, score with both feet and his head, and is only 21.
It's rare to find a striker like that on the market, but for Tottenham, they must do absolutely everything they can to get a deal over the line ahead of the competition, or risk being left even further behind.
