Chelsea set for Ngumoha windfall

Chelsea are set for a transfer windfall after a tribunal ordered that Liverpool must pay them at least £2.8 million for teenage winger Rio Ngumoha.

Ngumoha came through the academy system at Chelea but left them in September 2024 for Liverpool, and, a year later, signed his first professional contract with them.

However, the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) has now determined how much compensation Chelsea re due for the money they invested in his development. The figure which has now been agreed, cannot be negotiated, and could rise further with adds-ons in the future.

Chelsea will also be entitled to 20% of any transfer fee if Liverpool decide to sell him.

The 17-year old has already made 13 senior appearances for the Merseyside club, and scored his first senior goal for the club, a dramatic stoppage time winner against Newcastle in the Premier League back in August. That goal made him the youngest goalscorer for Liverpool in their history.
