Liam Rosenior has personally asked Chelsea owners to sign £8.5m wonderkid - journalist

Liam Rosenior didn’t get any new first-team signings during the January transfer window, but he’s already started looking towards the summer.

Chelsea keeping their powder relatively dry in January will allow them to go big in the summer, especially after offloading Raheem Sterling’s wages.

It’s been claimed that a midfielder, defender and an attacker is on Chelsea’s radar, but don’t rule out any other surprise signings.

What changes would you make to our side to face Wolves?

Mike Penders and Aaron Anselmino will return from their loans and could push for a first-team place at Chelsea during the summer.

Meanwhile, Emanuel Emegha is already set to work his way to Stamford Bridge in the summer, and there could yet be more movement on the Strasbourg front.

Liam Rosenior wants Valentin Barco at Chelsea

According to @Augustocesar22 on @ESPNArgentina, Liam Rosenior has for Chelsea to sign Valentin Barco.

Interestingly, it has been reported that Chelsea have always seen Barco as a player for them in the long-term, despite him only signing for Strasbourg from Brighton in the summer.

The club have been aware of him since he was playing in Argentina, but a move to Brighton was perhaps too early as he struggled with the speed of it all.

However, having seen his rise at Strasbourg and knowing Liam Rosenior is already at Chelsea, it will allow him to settle in and give it a proper second go in the Premier League.

Valentin Barco and Marc Cucurella stat comparison

Statistically, Barco is a superior creative threat; in 26 appearances across all competitions, he has recorded one goal and eight assists, including two assists in a single match.

And he currently ranks in the top 1% of European full-backs for through balls and expected assists, operating with a high-risk, high-reward approach that sees him heavily involved in the final third.

Marc Cucurella, by comparison, offers significantly more defensive stability in the Premier League. In 22 league appearances this season, Cucurella has recorded one goal and two assists, but his value is reflected in his 80th-percentile ranking for defensive contributions.

He has completed over 100 tackles and 64 interceptions this term, as well as winning 55.6% of his duels.
