Nikola Vucevic opens up on Boston: what he really thinks

Nikola Vucevic expressed his excitement about joining the Boston Celtics, calling the move a long-awaited opportunity. He promised to give his best to help the team, while also making an immediate impact in his debut during Boston’s comeback win over the Miami Heat.

Nikola Vucevic couldn't hide his excitement after making his Boston Celtics debut Friday night in a 98-96 comeback win over the Miami Heat. The Celtics erased a 21-point halftime deficit, but all eyes were on the veteran big man, who made an immediate impact off the bench.

Vucevic finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists, but it was his leadership and presence in the paint that energized the team. Beyond his stat line, Vucevic reflected on what it means to finally join Boston.

"Over the years, a lot of talks with me being connected to the Celtics," Vucevic said. "And lot of times when I was in Boston, just around the city, I hear fans telling me to come here. And so it happened now, and I'm very happy, and I'm just gonna try to do the best I can to help the team."

He paused and smiled, adding, "So, some wishes came true."

Vucevic's words highlighted both his excitement and determination. After spending most of his career chasing playoff success, he now has a real chance to compete for a championship with one of the Eastern Conference's top teams.

His experience and veteran mindset were on full display as Boston stormed back in the third quarter, outscoring Miami 36-15 to erase the deficit.
