Arsenal Move First for Brazilian Wonderkid After Early Talks–Chelsea Playing Catch-Up

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign a £26m Brazilian wonderkid ahead of Chelsea.

The Gunners are fully embroiled in a title fight against Manchester City, and could still be on for the quadruple, as they are in the Carabao Cup final, Champions League knockout stage and FA Cup third round.

They currently have a six point lead at the top of the Premier League table, and could extend it if they manage to beat Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal didn’t make any moves in the January transfer window, but they are expected to bring players in during the summer, and have now been linked to a Brazilian wonderkid.

Arsenal ‘leading’ Chelsea for Breno Bidon

Brazilian midfielder Breno Bidon has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months now, as it is understood the Gunners have sent scouts to watch his Corinthians side play specifically for the 20-year-old midfielder.

They opted against signing him in the January transfer window, but reports indicate that Arsenal remain interested in Bidon, and they are actually in the best position to sign him as things stand.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal have already held initial talks around potentially signing Bidon in the summer, and that they have reached out to Bidon with a view to signing him. The report includes that Chelsea are also very keen, but not as much as the Gunners as things stand.

Bidon is very well regarded in Brazil, he’s been at Corinthians since March 2024, and has since been a key player for the Brazilian side. He’s made 107 appearances, scoring four goals, and providing three assists, as a real all-rounder and box to box midfield talent.

He does have an extortionate release clause of £87m, however, the report claims that Corinthians could accept an offer of just £26m for his services in the summer transfer window.
