Dungannon Swifts have confirmed 16-year-old defender Daniel McCarron has signed a pre-contract move to Premier League leaders Arsenal.
It marks the latest step across the water by a player under the renowned development programme of Dungannon United Youth and Irish League-based Swifts – a path which resulted in Conor Bradley’s move to Liverpool.
The Dungannon Swifts statement confirming McCarron’s pre-contract agreement described “a commanding and composed defender”, highlighting his reward of “this incredible opportunity through hard work, commitment and consistently outstanding performances”.

"Daniel has already built an impressive football CV at international level, having represented Northern Ireland at U15, U16 and U17 level, and he is set to travel to Spain next week with the U17 squad, continuing his development on the international stage.
"At club level, Daniel has been a key part of recent success at Stangmore Park, playing his role in the Swifts Northern Ireland Cup & Cross-Border winning teams.
"Daniel will remain with Dungannon Swifts FC for the remainder of the season, continuing to train, play and develop at the club while also completing his studies in Northern Ireland, before officially joining the London club.
