While Chelsea’s January transfer window ended up being a quiet affair in all, it was not for the want of trying.
The Blues made their interest in Antoine Semenyo known early, clearly not thrilled with the performance levels of their wingers, many only signed in the summer.
The former Bournemouth man wouldn’t end up joining Chelsea, and instead has hit the ground running at EFL Cup finalists Manchester City.

The only addition they would end up making to their first team squad was Mamadou Sarr, who was recalled late in the window from his loan at Strasbourg.

Antoine Semenyo names Moises Caicedo and Reece James in Team of the Season
Despite the Blues missing out on his signing, it is clear Semenyo has been impressed with what he has seen from some of Chelsea’s top players this season.
The wideman was asked to name his Premier League Team of the Season so far for Sky Sports, and included Reece James and Moises Caicedo in his side.
This meant that Enzo Fernandez missed out on his side, with Semenyo choosing his new teammate Rayan Cherki in the attacking midfield role.
It is great to see the club captain back in these kind of conversations, however his strong run of playing games regularly could be about to come to an end.

James’ new injury concern
It had been over a year since James had missed a game due to injury, however that run came to an end for the EFL Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

How concerned are you by the influx of injuries under Liam Rosenior?
The skipper was nowhere to be seen, and has not been spotted back in training ahead of their next game.
The only saving grace for the Blues is that they should be okay without him to face Wolves. Their upcoming opponents currently sit bottom of the Premier League.
The hope will be that he is not rushed back to action before he is ready, given that Chelsea have already missed him for such a long period of time.
