Arsenal press conference LIVE: Mikel Arteta on Sunderland, Zubimendi, Gyokeres and title boost

Mikel Arteta faces the media following his Arsenal side's victory over Sunderland in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium. The win is a crucial one for the Gunners who move nine points clear of title rivals Manchester City before they face Liverpool on Sunday.

Despite a frenetic start for both sides and a Kai Havertz goal-bound block needed, the game simmered right until just before the half-time whistle when Martin Zubimendi smashed in off the post from outside the box.

Arsenal then took control in the second half, another Arteta change proving pivotal. Viktor Gyokeres, minutes after replacing Gabriel Jesus, was the man on the end of the chance to smash the ball past a helpless Robin Roefs. Martinelli helped add a third for the Swede in stoppage time too.

We have that with the kind of game that he expected. With him and Gabi around the three central defenders.

With Viktor it's very difficult to understand his emotion as he looks at you and you don't really know...

He is constantly trying to improve his game.

Well he came on in moments when the game was probably a bit more open, he had more company in and around him. But what for me that really makes a different is the consistency every single day to understand his teammates.

The type of character that we expected, and when you put that shirt on, it comes with responsibility and expectation. In your journey, you're going to have moments here where it is really tough.

I love his character, the way he approaches every single day. He has a genuine will to help the team.

When they see the line-up and he's not in everyone is talking. But he's been like this since the start.
