Outside of the usual talking points regarding one of the best basketball players of all-time, James’ future has been called into question. There are many who believe that he is playing in his final season with the Lakers.

Regardless of whether or not he does leave Los Angeles after this season, he is focused on trying to help lead the Lakers back to the NBA Finals.

With that being said, James has added to his legacy once again. He has broken yet another NBA record.

LeBron James made history by becoming the oldest player in NBA history to record double-digit assists in a single game.

While it may not be a huge record, it’s a record nonetheless. James continues to add accolades to his list of NBA accomplishments.

At 41 years old, James has started showing signs of age. However, he’s still capable of playing like one of the best superstars in the league. James still has another good year or two left in him if he chooses to continue playing.

So far this season, the longtime superstar has played in 33 games. He has averaged 21.8 points per game to go along with 6.7 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals, while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor and 31.5 percent from three-point range.

No matter what the future has in store, James has made a lasting impact in Los Angeles. Should he choose to the Lakers, he will have brought a championship to the proud franchise and helped put them back on the map.

What Does the Future Have in Store for LeBron James?

During the upcoming NBA offseason, James is going to be the most talked about player in the NBA. There is a very real chance that he could leave Los Angeles to join another team.

According to multiple reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers stand out as a possible suitor for James. Both Donovan Mitchell and James Harden have reportedly already started trying to recruit him to the Cavaliers.

James may not be a top-five superstar anymore. Despite that fact, he’s still a capable player in all facets of the game who can help a team compete for a championship.

Being able to finish his career where he started it in Cleveland would be an awesome storyline. It would likely be something he would have interest in as well.

Outside of the Cavaliers, there are a couple of other teams to keep an eye on. The Golden State Warriors could look to pair James with Stephen Curry, while the New York Knicks could also be a destination for him. Joining Kyrie Irving on the Dallas Mavericks might also be an option.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors about James’ future throughout the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season and into the offseason. For now, he’s focused solely on helping the Lakers this season.
