Liverpool's incoming summer recruit Jeremy Jacquet has compounded the Reds' concerns after screaming out in pain and being forced off injured for Rennes.
The Merseyside club secured a deal to bring in the French defender for £60m during the final days of the January transfer window, beating Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature. The switch will be made official when the summer arrives, but Liverpool will now be worried about him turning up in good shape, after Jacquet suffered a shoulder issue on Saturday.
The French youth international was included in the Ligue 1 outfit's starting XI against Lens but was withdrawn just shy of the 70-minute mark, grasping his arm, in a blow to the transfer deadline day acquisition.

Rennes ultimately went down 3-1, despite going ahead through Esteban Lepaul. Former Crystal Palace forward Odsonne Edouard drew level, with Ruben Aguilar flipping the match on its head moments before receiving his marching orders.
Ex-Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin then fired Lens in front, having joined the French outfit in January. Liverpool will undoubtedly be monitoring Jacquet and his potential fitness closely.
Discussing the defender's capture earlier this week, Arne Slot commented: "Very pleasing, of course. He's a very big talent and maybe even more than talent but we speak about talent because of his age. Second, because we weren't the only one interested in him so it's a big compliment to the people working really hard to sign players.

"Such a big talent and another example of the model we're using at this club -- young, very talented players sometimes at the start of their careers or sometimes already a little bit a few years into their career but always players that are young and can improve us in the short term but also definitely in the long term."
"We've signed a lot of them recently and like I've said many times in the mid-long term future of this club, and even the short term, is in a very good place."

Jacquet's injury comes as Liverpool grapple with their own defensive woes. After Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure for Real Madrid in the summer, his replacement Jeremie Frimpong has been absent from recent matches due to an issue.
Conor Bradley is also sidelined with a serious knee injury. Giovanni Leoni is expected to be out until at least next season after rupturing the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his left knee, while Joe Gomez continues to battle with fitness issues.
