Banton used to play for the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and the Portland Trail Blazers in the previous four seasons in the league.
This year he signed with the Dallas Mavericks, but played only in their G League affiliate before he was waived.
This year in the G League, Banton played 30 games, averaging 24.1 points, 6.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds.
Last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, he averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game, shooting 39.1% from the field.
