The Mavericks look to bounce back against the Spurs on Saturday as the I-35 Rivalry renews in San Antonio.
How to Watch Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio will get its turn to host the I-35 Rivalry on Saturday when Dallas makes the trip to the Frost Bank Center, only a few days after a loss in the series opener. The Spurs have sprinted out of the gates in February after putting together a run of three straight wins and no losses, hoping to keep the streak alive before the league hits the pause button for the All-Star break.
Victor Wembanyama had a night to remember on Thursday and recorded a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with his impressive haul of 29 points. That total wasn't enough to outshine Mavs rookie Cooper Flagg, as he tied with Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Jalen Green, and Bernard King as the only teenagers to shoot 30 points in four straight games in the modern NBA.
The only caveat to that is Flagg hasn't emerged on the winning side in any of those four outings, with Dallas currently on a losing streak of six. The franchise's road form (5-16) is truly what's holding the team back from becoming a viable playoff contender this term, while Southwest rival San Antonio has dropped just six of its 25 games at home so far this season.
The Spurs haven't won four editions of the I-35 Rivalry in a row since the 2018-19 season, when they bowed out to Denver in the first round of the playoffs. Mitch Johnson appears to be putting something even more special together this year, however, as San Antonio seeks a little more than bragging rights alone in the Western.
