Warriors officially sign 6-foot-2 fan-favorite point guard to assist Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors didn’t waste much time making additional adjustments to their roster after acquiring Kristaps Porzingis and losing Buddy Hield, Jonathan Kuminga, and Trayce Jackson-Davis during the trade season.

On Saturday, ESPN’s Shams Charania announced that the Warriors had signed a 6-foot-2 fan favorite point guard to assist Stephen Curry in the backcourt.

The Golden State Warriors are signing two-way guard Pat Spencer to a contract for the rest of the season,” Charania reported on X/Twitter.

Shortly after Charania’s tweet, the organization released a news release indicating the deal had been finalized.

“The Golden State Warriors have converted the two-way contract of guard Pat Spencer to a standard NBA contract,” the franchise announced.

“In three seasons with the Warriors, Spencer owns career averages of 3.8 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.6 rebounds in 9.8 minutes over 81 games. He appeared in eight playoff games in 2025, averaging 4.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.9 minutes per game. Spencer was selected to compete in the 2025 Castrol Rising Stars Game, playing for Team G-League during NBA All-Star 2025 at Chase Center.”

Spencer is everything the Warriors need in a reserve point guard. The 29-year-old plays with a chip on his shoulder, isn’t afraid of big moments, and plays at a pace that allows him to make rational reads on the move.

Spencer's 20-point scoring explosion against the Phoenix Suns in a come-from-behind win sealed his fate in the Bay, as the Davidsonville, Maryland native made it near impossible for the Warriors to let him walk.

Spencer could be an underrated weapon for a Warriors squad that hasn’t closed its championship window.
