Axel Disasi has joined West Ham United on loan until the end of the season after being placed in the bomb squad at Chelsea.
The story of Axel Disasi revolves around Enzo Maresca’s decision to banish him from the first-team squad due to squad size.
It’s been a tough past year for the Chelsea defender, but Disasi still gave his all for the Under-21s and continued to help the club’s youngsters.
He’s since joined West Ham United on loan until the end of the season with no obligation or option to buy him permanently upon the expiry of the deal.
And he made his debut today in a 2-0 win against Burnley in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo praises Axel Disasi
Axel Disasi started at centre-back for West Ham at Turf Moor, putting in a brilliant performance on his debut.
The defender had one shot on target, 67 touches, made 56 out of 58 passes, created three chances, six out of eight accurate long balls, one block, three recoveries and four clearances (FotMob).
And his new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, hailed his performance after the game.
“We were solid. We were very, very strong in our box. Axel, Dino, Aaron, Malick, Scarles, they did a good job containing Burnley.”
Cole Palmer is back!
Palmer scores on his 100th start. Has any Chelsea player done more than him in that amount of games?

What does the future hold for Axel Disasi?
Axel Disasi has almost no long-term future at Chelsea, despite having over three years remaining on his contract. While manager Liam Rosenior offered him a brief clean slate in training, the club’s actions on Deadline Day made their stance clear: he is considered surplus to requirements.
The straight loan to West Ham was a compromise. Chelsea had spent the entire January window searching for a permanent buyer, with AC Milan showing interest, but ultimately accepted the loan move to remove his high wages from the books and allow him to rebuild his market value.
The recall of Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg to act as first-team cover effectively took Disasi’s place in the squad hierarchy. Even if Disasi performs exceptionally at West Ham, the plan for the summer of 2026 is to facilitate a permanent exit and chase a new defender.
