With their 15-man roster now full after signing Kobe Bufkin, the only way the Los Angeles Lakers can still improve this season is by waiving a player to create space for a new addition via buyout.
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed former No. 15 pick Kobe Bufkin to a two-year deal, with a team option for the 2026–27 season, completing their 15-man roster.

After signing Bufkin to a standard contract, the Lakers now have 15 players under contract and don't appear to be adding anyone in the buyout market unless someone else is waived, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
"We are evaluating that 15th roster spot and at some point probably will likely fill it," Lakers GM Rob Pelinka told reporters ahead of Bufkin's signing.
Earlier, before the February 5 trade deadline, the Lakers acquired Luke Kennard from the Atlanta Hawks.
On the deadline, Pelinka stated, "I would say we were aggressive. And one form of being aggressive is saying no to moves that come your way that might not be best for the short- and long-term future."
