Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson has said that Arsenal will wrap the title up this weekend against Sunderland.
The Gunners come off a Carabao Cup semi-final win against rivals Chelsea, which booked them a place against Manchester City at Wembley in March. If they win it will be Mikel Arteta’s second piece of silverware at Arsenal after winning the FA Cup in 2021.

Mikel Arteta will have his focus on the Premier League though, as his side could go nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table, which could be massive, especially considering that Man City face a tough trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.
Arsenal face a Sunderland side who managed to get a draw against them last time the two teams met in November, so the Gunners are hoping to get their revenge.
Merson says Arsenal can wrap up the title this week
Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson has been very bold in his prediction ahead of the weekend, suggesting that if the Gunners win on Saturday, they will have the Premier League title “wrapped up” over rivals Man City.
He said in his weekly column for SportsKeeda: “I think the title will be wrapped up this weekend. I can’t see Arsenal dropping points in this game. If Arsenal win, they will be nine points clear at the top and then Manchester City go to Anfield, which means it will all be over on Sunday!
“I don’t think Arsenal’s quadruple credentials are being talked about enough. Nowhere near as much as when Manchester City and Liverpool were chasing it. The FA Cup will be the toughest trophy to win for them. They got a nice draw now, but if they play Manchester City, Chelsea or Liverpool in the next three rounds, they won’t win!”
Merson also included his score prediction of 2-0 for the game against Sunderland, and he suggested that Arsenal will win comfortably. He said: “Sunderland were great in the win over Burnley last time out. But I expect a comfortable win for Arsenal in this game.”
