According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Golden State must first review Ball's medicals before finalizing the move.
"Golden State still has to go through Lonzo Ball's medical before finalizing his addition," Fischer reported.
Denver was another team that showed interest in Ball, per the same report.
Marc Stein reinforced the expectation that Ball will land with the Warriors, writing: "One source close to the process says Ball is indeed expected to land in the Western Conference via the buyout market."
Earlier, Chris Haynes reported that multiple teams have requested to review the medical of Ball in order to determine whether to pursue the newly available free-agent point guard.
Ball, 28, became a free agent after being waived by the Utah Jazz. He was traded to Utah by the Cleveland Cavaliers ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline.

The former No. 2 overall pick appeared in 35 games this season for Cleveland – matching his total from the entire previous season – but his scoring declined.
Ball has averaged 4.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 30.1 percent from the field and 27.2 percent from three-point range in 20.8 minutes per game.
Ball missed the entire 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons due to a left knee injury. In March 2023, he underwent a meniscus and cartilage transplant after two prior surgeries failed to resolve an injury he sustained during his first season with the Chicago Bulls in 2021-22.
Lonzo Ball was selected second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft.
