Liam Rosenior matches Premier League record, the first Chelsea boss to do it since Maurizio Sarri

When the full-time whistle blew at Molineux just before 5pm on Saturday, it confirmed what many inside the stadium had expected from just the 38th minute: an away win for Chelsea.

When Cole Palmer struck his third goal of the day on 38 minutes, Liam Rosenior’s side were three to the good and looked set to avoid a potential banana skin in the Premier League’s rock-bottom side, Wolves.

The win was a seventh in nine games for Rosenior in all competitions. The gaffer has watched his Chelsea side win all four Premier League games, both of his two Champions League games, and an FA Cup win.

Only Arsenal have beaten Rosenior and Chelsea since the former Strasbourg gaffer arrived, both of which came in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. But the win over Wolves also saw Rosenior match a new record.

Rosenior matches Craig Shakespeare’s Premier League record

Only two English managers have now won all four of their first four Premier League matches. Rosenior has watched Chelsea beat Brentford 2-0, Palace 3-1 away, the 3-2 comeback win over West Ham, and Wolves.

Certainly, Rosenior has had a decent run of games to start with. He will have certainly expected to beat West Ham and Wolves, and possibly a Palace side in crisis. Brentford was at Stamford Bridge, as well.

Only one English manager has won his first four Premier League games before, in Craig Shakespeare. In April 2017, Craig Shakespeare managed the feat while at Leicester City, including a win against Liverpool.

Well, Rosenior has now become the second Englishman to achieve such a feat, and has the chance to go and match Shakespeare’s five wins if he beats Leeds on Tuesday night. The odds are in Rosenior’s favour.

The last Chelsea manager to win first four Premier League games

Such is Rosenior’s feat that only four Chelsea managers have been able to do it. Jose Mourinho managed it in his first stint as Blues boss, while Carlo Ancelotti won his first six Premier League games as manager.

The last Chelsea manager to win all four of his first four Premier League games was now-Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri. The Italian would win five matches, and like with Shakespeare, Rosenior can match that.

Leeds are in good form and have lost just two of their last 12 Premier League games. Daniel Farke’s men come into the game after a superb 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on Friday night.

Chelsea will be looking to exact revenge on Leeds, having been bullied by the Yorkshire side away from home in December. While Leeds are in good form, home advantage makes Chelsea the favourites.
