Chelsea begin talks to sign player who could form£300m midfield alongside Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez - journalist

If everyone could stay fit, there is no doubt that Chelsea would have the best midfield in the Premier League.

In fact, even with the injuries that Romeo Lavia has been picking up, you can still make a case for Liam Rosenior having the best engine room in the division.

Moises Caicedo is an elite ball-winner, while Enzo Fernandez has scored some big goals this season. Rosenior recently discussed Fernandez and explained how he is giving him freedom on the pitch.

How much would Enzo Fernandez cost if Chelsea tried to buy him today? 🤔 💰

This time next season, Chelsea’s midfield could be even stronger if their summer transfer window goes according to plan.

Chelsea open dialogue with Elliot Anderson’s representatives

Last month, it was reported that Manchester City are keen on Elliot Anderson and want to begin work on a deal as soon as possible, but it looks as though Chelsea are eager to do the same thing.

On Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that the Blues have already opened dialogue with Anderson’s representatives in their bid to sign the Nottingham Forest star.

Anderson is not the only midfielder on their radar, though. According to Phillips, Chelsea are also interested in Alex Scott.

While Rosenior obviously has Caicedo and Fernandez, again, Lavia’s fitness record means the 41-year-old is unable to rely on him.

Dario Essugo has also struggled to stay fit since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Sporting Lisbon last summer, leaving Caicedo and Fernandez to start practically every game this season.

How Chelsea could line up with Elliot Anderson, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez

If Chelsea do manage to land Anderson, for some games, it would not be a surprise to see the England international, Caicedo and Fernandez all lining up together in the middle of the park.

It would see Chelsea deploy a midfield worth in excess of £300m. Caicedo and Fernandez both cost more than £100m each, while it is believed that Forest also want around £100m for Anderson.

Rosenior would also have the option to start Anderson and Caicedo next to each other, while Fernandez is utilised in an attacking midfield role.
