LeBron James might be a superstar basketball player, but the Los Angeles Lakers veteran has made it clear over time that he's a huge fan of football.
Following the Lakers' victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, LeBron wished the viewers a "happy Super Bowl Sunday." When he was pressed for a prediction, LeBron declined.
"Nah, people gonna be mad at me if I pick a team," James told ESPN's Lisa Salters with a laugh. When encouraged to make a pick, James took the bandwagon route.
"I got the winner," he said before walking off.
James was known to be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys up until 2022. The star hooper announced that he was no longer a fan of the team. While the Cleveland Browns are LeBron's hometown team, he has shown support for many clubs over the years, since he is a fan of many individual players.
Clearly, LeBron doesn't have a dog in Sunday's fight. The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks are set to battle it out in the Super Bowl, running back their 2015 matchup, which ended with a shocking Patriots win, after the game looked sealed for Seattle.
The Super Bowl LX matchup kicks off at 6:30 PM ET.
As far as LeBron and the Lakers go, they'll get Sunday off after taking care of business at home against the Golden State Warriors. James checked in for 35 minutes, shooting 6-17 to score 20 points. He logged a double-double with 10 assists and also came down with seven rebounds.
That win was the third in a row for the Lakers. They advanced to 32-19 on the year, sitting fifth in the Western Conference.
Following Sunday's Super Bowl, LeBron and the Lakers will be back on the court at home on Monday night to host the champs, the Oklahoma City Thunder. The two teams will tip at 10 PM ET.
