According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Tatum has begun controlled 5-on-5 scrimmaging against coaches.

Charania adds that Tatum has aggressively approached his rehab at every turn, although there are still steps to complete in his recovery. Tatum himself wants to ensure he returns to the court as close to his former self as possible.

Tatum had a stellar 2024–25 season, averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game, while shooting 45.2% from the field and 34.3% from three.

The Celtics have remained competitive this season despite Tatum's absence, holding a 34–18 record and sitting second in the Eastern Conference.
