Man City produced an unbelievable comeback as they defeated Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
City dominated the opening stages of the match and should have taken a very early lead when Haaland was denied from close range. Omar Marmoush drilled an effort wide, and Marc Guehi provided a threat from set-pieces in what was an enthralling albeit goalless first-half.
Liverpool played with a point to prove after the restart and went close through Hugo Ekitike while Antoine Semenyo saw an effort saved by Alisson. The home side continued to push for an opener but struggled to find a fast past a resolute City defence that put everything on the line.
It was always going to take something special to break the deadlock and Dominik Szoboszlai delivered with a stunning free-kick to give the home side the lead. City were on course for another disappointing defeat but got the point their performance deserved when Bernardo poked in after an excellent knockdown from Haaland.
Guardiola's side knew a draw would not be good enough if they wanted to keep the Premier League title race alive and they completed a dramatic comeback when Haaland scored a penalty in added time to complete the dramatic comeback. They should have been awarded a third when Rayan Cherki saw an effort controversially ruled out for a foul.
