'No matter what': Jamie Carragher gives damning assessment of Arne Slot after Liverpool lose to Man City

After losing to Manchester City, Liverpool have now won just one Premier League match in their last seven attempts.

It looked as though the Reds could have turned a corner when they beat Qarabag and Newcastle United in their previous two matches.

However, Liverpool were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City on Sunday, continuing a dismal run of form in the Premier League.

While the champions falter, Manchester United have won four in a row under new manager Michael Carrick and Chelsea have done the same under Liam Rosenior.

It now means Liverpool are four points behind fifth and five adrift of the top four, which could be bad news for Slot.

Jamie Carragher suggests Arne Slot can’t get Liverpool back to their best

Jamie Carragher has already suggested Slot could be sacked if Liverpool don’t qualify for the Champions League this season.

Now, the former centre-back has given a damning verdict of the Dutchman when speaking live on Sky Sports post-match.

Carragher first said he doesn’t expect Liverpool to make it into Europe’s top-tier competition if they keep playing how they are.

He then said that ‘no matter what Arne Slot does’, the Reds do not look right.

Carragher stated: “The manager has another decision to make on the front four.

“If Liverpool continue the way they are, with a front four and the games end-to-end, I just don’t see how they can make the Champions League positions.

“But no matter what Arne Slot does, the make-up of this squad and team isn’t right. It never looks stable, they are never in control.

“There is a long road ahead for Liverpool to make the Champions League places.”

However, Opta’s supercomputer now has them down in sixth behind Man Utd and then Chelsea taking fourth.

Liverpool now have a 24.31% chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
