Miami Heat guard Norman Powell will participate in the 2026 NBA Three-Point Contest on February 14.

Powell, who was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career, will participate in the contest for the second consecutive season.

He was selected for the event in 2025 while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite not advancing to the next round, Powell enjoyed the experience.

“It was fun, I definitely enjoyed every minute, every second of it,” Powell told Fanatics last year. “Just being in the moment and enjoying it. Having a good time.”

One year later, he’ll get the chance to redeem himself after an unsuccessful attempt at winning the competition.

Heat guard Tyler Herro won the 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest, defeating Atlanta Hawks guard Buddy Hield with a 24/40 score.

If Powell wins the competition, that would mean back-to-back trophies for Heat players. The team also has the most all-time winners in the event with five. Those players are Glen Rice, Jason Kapono, Daequan Cook, James Jones and Herro.

In addition to participating in the Three-Point Contest, Norman Powell will also be playing in the All-Star Game. This season was Powell’s first time being named an All-Star.

“Definitely meaningful,” Powell told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “Just a milestone that I accomplished that I set out as a kid. I always wanted to be at that stage. I think it’s a testament of my hard work, my commitment to the game, my continued belief in myself at the level of player that I can be and continue to strive to be. So it’s definitely a great accomplishment for me, personally.”

When the Miami Heat traded for Powell in the offseason, making the All-Star team was one of his season goals. Many believed he was snubbed from the honor last season, when he averaged 21.8 points per game.

This season, he’s averaging 23 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. His production was too high for back-to-back seasons of missing out.

The Heat will also be represented at the 2026 NBA Slam Dunk Competition. Second-year Heat forward Keshad Johnson was named one of the four participants.

Johnson is averaging 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game in 21 appearances this season.
