Liverpool set asking price of£20 million for struggling forward

Liverpool suffered a blow in their pursuit of a Premier League top four spot as they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City on Sunday.

The Reds had taken the lead courtesy of a stunning Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick at Anfield, before midfielder Bernardo Silva drew the visitors level.

Erling Haaland then converted a penalty in added time to put City in front, and Szoboszlai was then sent off for pulling Haaland’s shirt as he chased Rayan Cherki’s long-range effort into an empty net; Cherki’s strike was also ruled out for Haaland’s foul on Szoboszlai immediately after.

City’s victory leaves them second in the Premier League table – six points behind leaders Arsenal – while the Reds occupy sixth place.

Off the pitch, it is emerging that Liverpool are prepared to allow one of their attackers to leave the club this summer.

As per CaughtOffside, the Merseyside outfit are willing to let Federico Chiesa leave the club this summer as the Italy international continues to struggle.

Chiesa, 28, joined Liverpool from Serie A side Juventus back in 2024 but played only a bit-part role for the Reds during his debut season at the club.

The attacker started just one Premier League game as Arne Slot’s side stormed to the Premier League title, although he has featured more regularly this term.

Despite featuring 25 times already across all competitions so far this season, the report claims that Liverpool could be willing to offload Chiesa this summer in order to raise funds and free up space in their squad.

The Italian is valued by his current employers at around £20-25 million, according to the report, and he is believed to be on the radars of clubs in Serie A.

Chiesa’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but it appears relatively likely that he will depart Anfield prior to that date.
