Source Reveals Liverpool's Stance Amid Speculation That "World Class" Player Could Make Shock Anfield Return

Liverpool will not get involved if Real Madrid decide to offload Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the season, according to reports.

Injuries have limited the defender’s game time during his first season in Spain, and there has been speculation that a departure could already been on the cards this summer. However, a source told TEAMtalk that a return to Anfield is not under consideration:

“Trent is not someone that is currently being talked about at the club. And that isn’t a huge dig at him, but in Conor [Bradley] and Jeremie [Frimpong], they have invested and are happy with those options.”

“Could that change if he was on the market and available? Never say never in football, but is very hard to imagine that.”

Who could sign Alexander-Arnold if he leaves Real?

TEAMtalk claim that Manchester City are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old’s situation, while Bayern Munich are also said to be monitoring events.

A lot may still depend on whether Alexander-Arnold can recover from a difficult first half of the season. If he features prominently when he returns from a muscular injury, it is unlikely that he will be sold.

The player burned a lot of bridges at Liverpool

Besides his availability, another big question is whether Alexander-Arnold would have been able to repair the relationship with the fanbase if he did come back.

The right-back was once hailed as a “world-class” player by Jurgen Klopp, and his ability was widely admired on Merseyside, but the way he left the club left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Forcing the Reds to sell to Real after Alexander-Arnold decided not sign a new contract did not go down well at all, so it’s unlikely he’d be welcomed back, no matter the circumstances.
