The Reds were recently defeated 2-1 at home to Manchester City, and although the performance, certainly in the second half, was respectable from the Merseyside club, it's only the second time Pep Guardiola has won at Anfield with City. It's a result that, in isolation, doesn't look disastrous, but Liverpool have been incredibly disappointing this season.

The Reds have won just once in their previous seven Premier League games, and not only are their title chances slipping away from them, they are even up against it to finish in the Champions League places.
Reports have claimed that Liverpool are already working on a deal to appoint former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, and he's their top target to replace Slot at Anfield. The Merseyside club are believed to be constantly working on bringing him to the club, and they now need to do everything in their power to convince him to make the move.
Alonso, described as an 'elite' manager, would be the perfect replacement for Slot, and Liverpool need to make a change before their season completely slips away from them.

There's little to worry about in terms of Alonso's managerial credentials, despite him being in the early stages of his coaching career. The Spanish manager has already won a Bundesliga title without losing a game, beating Bayern Munich to first place, which is a monumental achievement in itself.
Alonso shouldn't take too long to settle in at Anfield having spent a portion of his career there as a player, and the only worry Liverpool should have is his lack of Premier League managerial experience. Either way, it's time for the Reds to make a change.
