Juventus are also interested in Tonali and sources have indicated the ex-AC Milan star is open to going back to Serie A.
Tonali made the move from the San Siro to St James' Park in 2023 in a £52million deal.
And Newcastle want to get their money back and then some for the 30-cap Italy international.
The Magpies are believed to value Tonali between £80m and £100m.

And they have added Tonali to their list of Premier League proven options which includes Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton.
Sand storm
Tonali's long-term future in Tyneside was raised on deadline day earlier this month amid links to join table-topping Arsenal.
Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson told talkSPORT he had 'no idea' whether the rumours were true.
It was speculated that Tonali's agent had offered the player to the Gunners.
But no talks between the clubs took place with the Toon refusing to sell him during the winter window.

City boss Pep Guardiola meanwhile is known to be a long-term admirer of Tonali.
And eyebrows were raised when the duo were spotted in a deep conversation following the Citizens' Carabao Cup semi-final second leg win over Newcastle last week.
Tonali's agent Giuseppe Riso recently remained coy on his client departing Newcastle at the end of the season.
He told Tuttosport: "Newcastle are having a hard time letting go of Sandro, and he wants to lead the club to the Champions League.
"These transfer discussions will take place later. We’ll see how the season ends and then we’ll decide what to do.
“There’s no preference at the moment. It’s still early. What we’re saying today won’t apply tomorrow.
