Opinion: Chelsea's latest hero is just as untouchable as Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo

Cole Palmer was once again able to deliver for Chelsea in their 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The attacking midfielder scored all three of Chelsea’s goals as they made it four consecutive wins in the Premier League under Liam Rosenior.

Palmer has double the number of hat-tricks Eden Hazard had as a Chelsea player, showing his ability.

Cole Palmer is the best signing of the Todd Boehly era, there’s no debate 🤩

Together with Moises Caicedo, the 23-year-old is thought to be considered untouchable by the Blues. But there is now another star at Stamford Bridge who should also be on that list.

Enzo Fernandez currently untouchable

Real Madrid doubt a deal for Enzo Fernandez is viable; nevertheless, the midfielder continues to be linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. Like with Palmer and Caicedo, though, he is not someone Chelsea can afford to sell.

Fernandez has become a hero for the Blues this season after some of the goals that he has scored.

For example, the 25-year-old bagged the match-winner in Chelsea’s 3-2 comeback victory over West Ham United at the end of last month.

Fernandez has such a rare skill set for a midfielder, meaning that it would be practically impossible for Chelsea to replace him this summer. For a couple of supporters on TalkingPoints, the club’s stance simply has to be not for sale.

How much would Enzo Fernandez cost if Chelsea tried to buy him today? 🤔 💰

Fernandez now scores goals — big ones — and is a very technically gifted midfielder. He looks after the ball in tight situations before playing a progressive pass that gets the team moving in the right direction.

According to FotMob, the Argentine creates 1.75 chances per 90 minutes, putting him in the 86th percentile among Premier League midfielders.

Chelsea are very fortunate to have the trio of Fernandez, Palmer and Caicedo.

Again, the fact that Fernandez is able to score goals from midfield makes him very special compared to most of his positional peers.

As for Palmer and Caicedo, they are also unique footballers. The former is a goal and assist machine whose combined numbers over the last few years are hard to rival.

The sheer number of tackles and interceptions that Caicedo makes also puts him in another category. The Ecuadorian, Palmer and Fernandez truly are a spectacular trio.
